Welcome, parents.
We understand that parents of gifted children have their own unique challenges and struggles. At GATE Academy, your child will find their peers, and so will you. GATE parents understand each other. Being a part of our community means having access to a supportive network of parents, teachers and staff.
If a child wants to explore carbon bonding as part of an inquiry unit on energy forms and transfers, they may do so. Teachers provide the scaffolding of basic information and skills; kids do the climbing, and pack in the content — with guidance, of course.
Our students are given tools for emotional self-regulation through mindfulness activities, and for physical and social self-control through daily PE classes. Kids find GATE exciting and challenging, because exploring their own questions and creating their own research, writing and art is inherently self-motivating.
